Butterfree

Yesterday I stumbled upon a video of a girl who had every Pokémon card containing Spoink. It's quite interesting because, even though I grew up playing Generation 3, I never remember where to catch Spoink. It's one of those creatures that can very easily be forgotten, and still it was this girl's favourite Pokémon.

For a very long time, my favourite Pokémon was Grovyle. I used to pretend that I was Ash, and his Grovyle was pretty cool using Leaf Blade, so I loved it. It is still one of my faves, but another creature took its spot in recent years.

When Generation 1 came out on the 3DS, I decided to replay it trying to use as many Pokémon as I could. And one that I couldn't take out of my team was my darling Butterfree. Psychic types are super strong in those games, and Butterfree learns Confusion really early, so it became my main. She also had Poisonpowder and Stun Spore, which made defeating harder trainers more strategic, which I enjoyed doing. So it quickly became my favourite.

It's really interesting how our minds can work. I'm normally that work-oriented, sports passionate guy, but my favourite fictional creature is a frail butterfly. Not a powerful dragon like Charizard, or a badass looking beast like Arcanine. They're sophisticated and pretty, like Butterfree and Meganium, or cool like Grovyle. We really are interesting beings.
