TV Show Recommendations

In this page you will find some of my favourite TV shows, alongside a brief synopsis. They are listed in alphabetical order, and the ordering does not represent my personal ranking. This list will never be fully completed until I die, and I will update it whenever I find a new show that I love.

Breaking Bad art

Breaking Bad

A school teacher finds out he has cancer, and decides to live life at its fullest by becoming a drug dealer. This show comes with a change in moral perception, as at all times you end up rooting for the bad guy. Its characters and story are deep and complex, with beautifully written episodes. A must watch for anyone interested in deep storytelling.

Death Note art

Death Note

A high school student finds a notebook that kills anyone whose name is written on it. He then decides to kill criminals with it and clean the world. This anime provides an interesting conflict between different ideas of what justice means. It is a good choice for those who have never watched anime before and are interested in starting.

Frieren art

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

A group of heroes arrives after defeating the main enemy. Among them is an elf who can live for thousands of years. What will be of her life as she tries to understand life itself? This anime is much slower paced than others (in particular the first half of Season 01), and is a good watch for those hoping to relax.

FMAB art

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Two brothers go on a journey to find a philosopher's stone after an incident damages their bodies while they try to revive their mother. This anime combines action and comedy, and has very memorable characters.

Mr Bean art

Mr. Bean

A clumsy, immature man tries to deal with daily life. This is all you need to know about this hilarious short series played by the great Rowan Atkinson. If all you want is to laugh for a bit, this one is for you.

My Wife and Kids art

My Wife and Kids

Written by Damon Wayans, this situation comedy shows the life of a traditional American family, the Kyles. Every character is memorable, starting from the core family, and extending to the recurring secondary characters, which makes you immersed in their lives. And one must note that Michael Kyle's parenting is an example to follow. I've watched this entire show countless times, and still laugh at every episode I see.

Steins Gate art

Steins;Gate

This anime talks about a self-proclaimed mad scientist who finds out how to build a time machine. It deals with the consequences of changing the natural state of time flow. It also has a prequel, Steins;Gate 0, and some specials and movies, which I also recommend.

Ted Lasso art

Ted Lasso

An amateur American football coach is called to become manager of a Premier League side, even though he knows absolutely nothing about the sport. This comedy, while pretending to be just about this man's mishaps in the beginning, delves into much more complex topics, like divorce and sexuality. It has very rich character development, and its three seasons (so far) close the story pretty well for all of them. A good watch for those who like deeper topics, football, or comedies in general.

Two and a Half Men art

Two and a Half Men

The womanizer Charlie Harper, played by the one and only Charlie Sheen, finds out that his brother, Alan, has been kicked out of his house by his wife. His life changes completely when Alan goes tot live with him, including the weekends with Jake, Charlie's dumb nephew. This situation comedy had eight great seasons, and then four ones that we must pretend were never made after Sheen left the show. It's a good one for a good laugh.
